# Verifying your email address

> Verify your contact email so you receive important account notifications from Scayla.

Your contact email must be verified before Scayla can reliably send you account notifications. If your email is unverified, you'll see a banner at the top of your settings page prompting you to verify it.

    In Editr settings, find the **Email unverified** banner at the top of the
    page and click **Send**.

  <Step title="Check your inbox">
    Scayla sends a confirmation email to your contact email address.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click the confirmation link">
    Open the email and click the verification link to confirm the address.
  </Step>

If the email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder. You can click **Send** again from the banner to resend the confirmation.

## What happens if your email is unverified

Scayla may not be able to reach you about important account matters, such as service updates or billing changes. Verifying only takes a moment and protects against missing anything important.
